Portland is one of my favorite places in the world, and on a nice day, Portland is glorious like no place I’ve ever been — not even San Diego, where I live now. But yeah, r-h, I get it. I remember a lot of 38-and-raining days in Portland, too. Miserable.

:: A couple of decades ago, the sports editor of the little paper where I worked wrote a column in which he took the National Hockey League and its commissioner to task for transgressions that I no longer remember.
What I do remember is that he suggested giving the league a new name and thus a fresh start. And what could be better, he asked rhetorically, than to name the NHL after the president...
